Vision 2020 – Leicester: Event Overview

We aim for you to be inspired by thought leaders in technologies, sustainability, business and the arts. You will discuss ideas with fellow participants that may challenge the way you do business today. We want you to leave the day invigorated and armed with new understandings of the future, potential opportunities and how challenges may be faced.

We are inviting you to be liberated from the day to day, to hear about exciting future technologies, participate in the discussion, and to try your hand at being a futurist to explore new world thinking. We intend that the diversity of participants will enable a broad discussion, and we aim to converge ideas to develop a Vision for 2020.

The event includes keynotes by John Thackara and BT. John has been described as “A visionary voice for the wired era” (Wired), Le Monde stated that his “Insights on innovation contribute to Europe’s new identity” and the Economic Times of India has described his comments as “Brilliant insights into the internet and sustainability”. BT has for many years been at the forefront of developments in communications technologies, and we are delighted that Warren Buckley, Managing Director, BT Retail Customer Service, will be joining us to share a vision for the future of communications. In addition, we have a series of provocative presentations and many opportunities for discussion with BT, Blueprint, RiverSimple, Harvey Ingram LLP, De Montfort University and more to be announced soon. We are also excited and delighted to be showcasing the ground-breaking and innovative RiverSimple car, which will be on show throughout the event. You will also have the opportunity to tour Phoenix Square Film & Digital Media Centre, recently shortlisted as a model of partnership working by the Homes & Communities Association in its ‘Flourishing Places’ 2010 category.
